Entertainment is my Passion and our Connection

I've dedicated my days to curating a positive, welcoming, and fun community among my TikTok following. Everyone is looking for a place to talk about cartoons, comics, video games, and so much more. Why can't that be with me? A question I've never asked because I have the privilege of interacting with so many wonderful followers every single day. I am also a strong advocate and ally because no one should lose the opportunity to live the life they want with the freedom and security to enjoy every minute.

and what I can do for you

It’s Time To Find The Magic Of Your Zodiac And Ask Which Winx Club Character Are You? | Winx club, Club, Tv show halloween costumes

If you can desire, you can become one of their bunch! If you remember those lyrics, you are a true fan of the Winx Club. I have loved this show ever since I was a kid, and I know so many people feel the same way. It’s easy to understand why because this show has so much personality, humor, and drama. With the reboot coming up, I thought it was time to have a little fun with zodiacs. So which Winx Club character are you based on your zodiac sign?

I've Got a Book Deal, What's Next?

One thing I have come to appreciate about the publishing industry while I have worked with the UNG Press is how the journey does not end with a submitted manuscript. Unlike in school, where you submit your essay, sit back, and wait for your grade. Assuming a publisher has accepted your work, your journey has just begun. You still have editing, marketing, designing, formatting, and probably more editing and even more! Luckily, you are never alone when you work with a publisher; if that makes it any less intimidating, it is all done to ensure your best work shines through.

Let's Learn About Southern Literature

While many recognize Southern literature as simply works written by Southern authors, there is a much stronger sense of identity that sets this genre apart from other regional genres. Southern literature typically features a strong sense of place and belonging. History, community, religion, racism, class, and influences of the past are the strongest characteristics that define Southern literature. However, imagery is regarded as the sense of identity in this genre. Countless authors work tirelessly to invigorate the reader's senses to showcase Southern culture, such as a few authors from the UNG Press.

Young Reader's Day

I fell in love with reading when I first learned how at three years old. I love a good mystery. If somehow my previous posts haven’t been enough of a clue, a quote from the father of the detective story should be enough. I like figuring things out and testing my imagination, so I keep reading to see how authors do the same. People often find reading intimidating, believing they must read some antiquated classic, but that’s not true. It might be simple advice, but sometimes, just figuring out what you like is the best beginning to your reading journey.

Texting Story Review

Over the past few months, I have gotten a few questions about working with the UNG Press. These are the four most frequent questions I receive, so maybe next time someone asks me any of these, I can send them this post as an answer. Joking aside, even though balancing deadlines with class assignments can be challenging, seeing my posts on Instagram always feels nice. I have learned a lot, and I love sharing what I know with others. For the last question, I seriously recommend that interested students check out our post about applying for the internship.

Writing Tip

A strange bit of writing advice, or a decision-making tip, I have learned is to let fate decide. Unfortunately, I’m not an oracle, so I can’t talk to fate personally, so I settled for dice. I have found that when I have too many ideas and can’t pick a favorite, I try rolling a die. I lay out my options, assign them a number, and go where the dice take me. It may surprise some, but random chance has served me well. You can try using my examples, but I recommend creating your template for your creative or Shakespearian needs.

Do It Yourself or Traditional Editing

This question is vital for many authors when deciding what is best for their books. Traditional editing comes with support from a team of experienced and dedicated editors who strive to help your book become its best self. However, this process might result in disagreements, compromises, or feeling like your book is no longer your own. DIY/self-editing, on the other hand, lets you choose who to work with in terms of freelance services, which is not always cost-effective and requires a roll of the dice in regards to editorial quality. At the same time, DIY does allow authors to maintain total creative control over their work. No one understands your book like you, but that also means personal biases can, and will, affect your judgment during editing. Have you experienced the traditional or DIY approaches to book editing before? Share your stories with us in the comments!

Feedback

These four words are the first to come to my mind when I think of my time at the UNG Press, and I hope that others will be able to experience those feelings. The team’s dedication to finding new ways to educate readers on a variety of subjects and making said subjects available to all scholars stood out to me. Everyone is so welcoming and kind. I think authors and readers alike would appreciate the level of support I have received working here. I also enjoyed being able to give my opinion on some manuscripts. I felt like my opinion mattered.

Inspirational Quote

I’m not embarrassed that a Batman quote has helped me a lot over the past couple of years. I have struggled with anxiety, and my disabilities have only added to how my fears affect me. So, when I read this for the first time, it stuck with me because I no longer had to be afraid of being afraid. All the times I have been scared of or anxious over huge assignments, looming deadlines, and new experiences, I also had the chance to be brave and face them head-on.
